About Elaine

I offer Academic Coaching, which is a one-on-one or small group service designed to help students build study skills such as reading comprehension, note taking, time management, goal setting, organization, basic writing skills, test preparation, and test-taking strategies. I am also qualified to help students cope with more personal issues such as test anxiety, low self-efficacy or confidence, and disability, including learning disabilities, ADHD, and physical and mental health conditions. I am a licensed Special Education Assistant in the state of Wisconsin.

I am offering private academic coaching to college, high school, and middle school students within the Milwaukee Area. Coaching is a personalized service which is customized to the specific needs of the student. The first coaching session will be an initial assessment where I will ascertain the students skill levels, discuss their specific concerns, and work with the student and parent or guardian to create a customized plan of action. All sessions following the initial assessment will be focused on skill building and students will often be required to complete assignments between sessions to practice skills.

My Qualifications

I have a MS in Higher Education Administration specializing in academic services, instructional design, and adult learning. My BA is in Biology, specializing in psychology and animal behavior. I have 6 year experience academic coaching undergraduate students and assisting with the development of the academic coaching program at a local university. I have been coaching privately for 1 year.

I believe academic coaching is a service students at all levels can benefit from, and am excited to expand my services privately to students in the Milwaukee Area. I truly believe that most students who don't like learning and struggle to be successful in traditional academic environments have underdeveloped study skills which make keeping up in the traditional classroom difficult. By improving these skills, students will also gain confidence and feel more comfortable seeking assistance and advocating for their own needs inside the classroom.

As a higher education professional I am also offering to help students navigate the college selection and admissions process.

Please contact me with any questions about my services or to schedule a coaching session or college counseling session. I look forward to meeting you, or your minor student, and addressing their specific academic concerns.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
