About Chelsea

I have had the incredible opportunity to spend the past 3 years teaching elementary special education classes in a Harlem Charter School. I have been able to work both with small pull out groups of students, as well as integrated classes, scaffolding work and lessons as needed. I love working with students of all ages and abilities, having a Master's in Elementary Gen Ed, and Special Education (k-6) allows me the flexibility and knowledge to do so. I just wrapped up the year teaching 3rd grade, where my students had their first exposure to a state exam. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have spent the past 3 years teaching either 2nd or 3rd grade, as a classroom teacher. This included the subjects, of phonics, math, problem solving, reading, writing, text analysis and others. I also have my Masters in both General Education and Special Education (k-6) from Fordham University.

Special Needs

I have spent the past 3 years teaching either 2nd or 3rd grade, in an integrated co teaching classroom (ICT) as the Special Education Teacher. This included the subjects, of phonics, math, problem solving, reading, writing, text analysis and others. Many times this would require small group and differentiated instruction. I also have my Masters in both General Education and Special Education (k-6) from Fordham University.
