I was hired by the Milwaukee Public School District as a Reading First intervention teacher to provide struggling readers in grades K-3rd grade with additional support and instruction. I administered both formal and informal assessments, determined students’ instructional needs, and designed lessons to help students grow as readers. During this time, I helped teachers implement research-based best practices in the five areas of reading identified under the Reading First grant.
Now I am teaching K5 at one of the elementary schools in the Milwaukee Public School District. Prior to being hired by the MPS District, I taught 7 years in 3rd grade. I have been an elementary teacher for 11 years, and I enjoy working with students of all ages. I completed my Master's degree in reading, and I am looking forward to helping students succeed in reading.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
