My background spans Mathematics to Philosophy to Law (B.A., M.S., J.D.), but I talk in a straightforward, down-to-earth manner. I believe most material can be communicated in everyday language and illustrated with real-life examples. This is especially true in math.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes the adage "teach a man to fish." One of the goals of each lesson is to show you how much you already know and how to build from there to mastery of the subject. I have taught English as a foreign language both in class and in the home, and tutored mathematics to high school students in Spanish. Recently, I tutored and mentored at a high school in Seattle, where I was amazed what students from disadvantaged neighborhoods can do with some respect and encouragement.
I approach mathematics like language, foreign language like music, and writing like sport, and I adapt to the student's personality and learning style. My ultimate goal is to help a student take charge of his or her own learning while being a mentor and coach along the way. You would be amazed how difficult it is to find a great economics tutor. It is a subject that is, in my opinion, difficult to explain, and, since it is not an exact science, there are few out there who are consistently able to provide answers on a wide range of material. Fortunately, Ahmed had both mastery of the subject and was able to explain it in an easy to understand manner. I credit Ahmed with helping me earn an "A" in both of my economics courses at the University of Washington. If you are willing to put in the work, Ahmed can help you reach your goals and if he is this good with economics, I can only imagine how effective he is in his other subjects. Thank you, Ahmed, for making the dismal science far less dismal.
My daughter was failing AP calculus. In a very short period of time, she progressed up to a solid B with just a couple of tutoring sessions. Ahmed is able to cue in immediately on what the student needs to help improve their situation. Highly, highly recommend.
I highly recommend Ahmed T. He is a great tutor that can make you feel comfortable while studying. I had GMAT lessons with him, and he taught me good strategies to do in the test day. He is so patient and calm while teaching. Also, he has a broad knowledge in various subjects. I'm glad that I met with him, and you would be too!
My 17 year old daughter was a little reluctant to study this summer, but I wanted her to use her mind. We met Ahmed at a coffee shop which happened to be closed. And that was the start of our first meeting.
It turns out Ahmed is a very smart, low drama, soft spoken, nice person. He started by asking general questions about my vision. Then he talked to my daughter asking questions about her interests. Then Ahmed brilliantly tied my vision to her interests. My daughter and I both walked away from our first meeting smiling.
Ahmed is a great tutor, he takes the time to understand the student, and ensures that the student is understanding the material. These are excellent skills for any tutor.
I am so fortunate to have found Ahmed on the WyzAnt website. He has been INCREDIBLE! My daughter has improved her grade by 2 levels in her precalculus class since meeting with him. He also helps her in other curriculums, as well as teaching her study skills & time management skills. It was difficult in the past to find someone that she actually wanted to work with, but Ahmed's personality & patient, kind character makes my daughter look forward to studying with him. I really can't express enough how grateful I have been to Ahmed & the help he has provided !!!
Ahmed is currently tutoring my son in French and Algebra. We were very happy to find a tutor that could do both subjects, and do them both so well. Ahmed is excellent at explaining to my son how what he is currently studying fits into a larger framework, or, in other words, connecting the dots. For my son, this ability to see the bigger picture makes all the difference. Ahmed is also helping my son on studying habits and test taking skills. Again, we're very happy with the progress my son is making.
Ahmed is calm and patient and has developed a great rapport with my son. He's a great tutor and I can recommend him highly.
Ahmed is well-versed in test-taking strategies and has a calm manner. He is observant of problem areas and addresses them directly and goes back to them appropriately. I am approaching the GRE from a point of many years out of school and am pretty rusty in math (with some math-anxiety) and test-taking strategies, so his input has been very helpful.
I am a middle-aged MBA student and Ahmed was extremely effective as my microeconomics tutor. He reviewed course material in advance of our meetings so was very well-prepared; was able to help me understand complex topics by using clear language and real-life examples; and was a delight to spend time with. I cannot say enough good things about this young man and can unequivocally recommend him to others as a tutor.
I only had a few days to do a quick review and Ahmed was excellent in helping me increase my basic understanding. We reviewed all the tricks and tips, went over how the exams work and were able to greatly improve my chances of a better grade!
Ahmed was my daughter's tutor who helped her for the GRE. We will use Ahmed again when we get close to the LSAT. My advise to prospective GRE takers is to start studying as early as possible. Thanks Ahmed.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I grew up speaking Egyptian dialect at home and have studied the language in grade school and in college. At the University of Wisconsin I took three advanced and intermediate courses, and currently I do research in politics in the Arabic language.
I have been the chess coach at Evergreen High School for the last two years. I have played tournament chess at a B level.
Between January 2000 and December 2001, I taught a course called Contemporary Applications of Modern Mathematics for four semesters at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The course covered Graph Theory, Voting Methods, Apportionment, The Traveling Salesman Problem, and Descriptive Statistics.
I planned, taught, and graded this class for two sections each semester, with around 25 students in each class.
