About Alain

I am currently a final year PharmD student on leave of absence with a passion for teaching. I have degrees in Business (finance, accounting) MBA in M.I.S. and three years of pharmacy school including all pre-med subjects (Chemistry/Physics/Biology).

I have plenty of tutoring experience, like to develop an LT business relationship with students and parents based on mutual trust. (Not interested in isolated 1 hour tutoring gigs, if this is what you want please contact someone else.)

I am very motivated, passionate, compassionate, very patient and want to see student succeed.
Students are my highest priority, so if homework is due or a test is coming suddenly you can count on me.

I am interested in helping students negotiate a career path and try help minimize tuition costs by suggesting smartest routes towards a students goal.

When it comes to pre-med, I am a great resource on what subjects to take, in what order to take them and where to take them.

I know what it is like to struggle and I like to make learning fun.

I taught high school before going back to school to become a pharmacist.

I believe that everybody is special and am very familiar with Special education law and what parents and students need to educate themselves on to maximize their or their child's success in a very complicated and often hostile environment.

I can tutor MBA courses especially Finance, business is a very strong subject area.

I can also teach graduate level pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, therapeutics, medicinal chemistry etc.

I can tutor undergraduate or high school physics and college Algebra and Chemistry.

I scored a 99% on the ASVAB and did very well on the GMAT. (My specialty)

I can teach Pre-Algebra, College Algebra 1 and 2, Physics, Chemistry, and History etc., and have a passion for history all types.

I am very excited with working with special needs children and adults.

I have patience, and flexibility and the ability to motivate are my key assets.

I have taken all pre-meds and scored 87 percentile on PCAT and completed three years of Pharmacy courses. (PCAT was taken a while back, so I need time to revise that.)

I am currently in Milwaukee and Illinois.

Sour grapes! Saw student on 10.24.2013 , 3.5 months later he posts my first negative comment.

Treated him very fairly and felt very exploited by him in return.

For a tutor-student relationship to work, student should not demand 6 hours of work at very short notice in return for 1 hour pay.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have taught high school algebra 1 and algebra 2 in addition to college algebra 1 and college algebra 2.

I took the ASVAB and maxed out scoring in the 99th percentile. I would like to help anyone interested in improving their scores.

I have three business degrees including a Masters.

I did my undergraduate in accounting and finance.

I have plenty of work experience.

I also have a Masters in Management Information Systems from NIU.

I am a former high school chess coach with a rating over 1850. I love to teach chess and have over 20 years experience.

College Counseling

I have completed college degrees in South-Africa following the English system of a 3 year Bachelors program. I then came to the United States and completed a traditional four year Bachelor degree at a well known State school in Illinois. I thereby became familiar with the international transfer process and how American College Education compares to English/South-African degrees. More importantly I earned over 400 credit hours at American schools. The schools included community colleges, both State schools and private schools private schools at both the under-graduate and graduate level.

I also completed several CLEP exams earning college credit and have explored many careers, including Education, Special education, Medicine, Pharmacy, Business and information Systems.
I have used CLEP classes and community college credits for both undergraduate requirements for teachers certification and graduate qualifications for MBA in Masters in Management of Information Systems and getting into a Pharmacy Doctorate program and completing three years at a Private school and taking classes for one year at a State school.

When it comes to cost, I am an expert in choosing the cheapest and or speediest route for a Bachelors degree or teachers certification in one of many courses. For Special needs students searching for accommodations, I have become an expert in this field, as I myself have special needs and have utilized the services available in many schools. Most importantly I know how to listen to a student and help them focus on what they are looking for.

I graduated from Northern Illinois University, with a Bachelors and Masters degree and took classes at three community colleges in Illinois, as well as many courses at North Eastern Illinois University. I have also successfully completed two courses at Marquette University in Wisconsin and completed all the didactic coursework for a Doctorate in Pharmacy at a Private school in Illinois (MWU) and taken one years courses of remediation at Chicago State University.

I have counseled many students on how to save money or get into a college which is a right fit. Something which is even more important then cost in many cases.

I am not fluent in Hebrew, but have taken it for many years and studied Hebrew Biblical text for over 10 years.
I can teach how to read and write Hebrew and Hebrew Biblical script, but I cannot teach Hebrew grammar very well.
Hebrew is not my first language.
