I have an BA in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL/ESOL) with a concentration in Spanish and Linguistics from Liberty University and an MA in Applied Linguistics, with concentrations in literacy and ethnology, from the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics in Dallas, TX.
My experience as an ESL teacher is quite diverse: I tutored international students at Liberty University for 3 years, and taught a listening and speaking class for one year.
I was as ESL teacher and guide for The Language Company's English Days at Walt Disney World--a full immersion English camp for students ages 8-18 from all over the world.
I was an ESL instructor at Auburn University at Montgomery and taught beginner writing and grammar, intermediate reading comprehension and advanced listening and speaking.
I have taught overseas--Guatemala, Romania, and Central Asia; and have traveled and/or lived in 14 other countries.
I love working with and learning about international peoples, languages and cultures!
Although, most of my experience is in teaching English related topics, I have tutored math a fair amount as well. Math has always been one of my favorite subjects and I was placed in advanced classes from elementary through high school. Pre-algebra and algebra are my favorite and I would love to help you or your son or daughter to get a better understanding of it...maybe even learn to like it as well ;) I have an BA in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL/ESOL) with a concentration in Spanish and Linguistics from
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a B.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Through Liberty University's English Language Institute I did one-on-one and group tutoring for international students with a wide range of ages, professions and cultural backgrounds. I also taught a Listening and Speaking TOFEL Exam preparation class.
My experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages also expands to children ages 5-20 through private tutoring and through The Language Company in Orlando, FL. I worked for them for 2 years teaching at a full immersion English camp.
Not only have I taught in the states but also overseas in three different continents. I plan to return Asia to after I finish my M.A. in Applied Linguistics at the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics in Dallas, TX.
