I have recently relocated to the Marshfield area of WI and am looking to get back into working with students. Previously, I was an Assistant Professor of Biology at an undergraduate university in New York City (Pace University). There I taught a wide variety of biology classes (from intro biology to special topics in biology) although my specialty includes cellular and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, cancer biology, research methods, science writing, and more. I also worked extensively one-on-one with my students both doing research in the laboratory and in the classroom which was my favorite part of being a professor.

In addition to my biology expertise I can help students determine which studying methods work best for their learning style in order to maximize their time. I can help students learn how to learn. These methods can be applied to any field, not just biology, which will allow for a successful career as a student and ultimately in your chosen occupation as well. My overall goal is to help a student be successful in life, not just for a single exam.

I have my BS in Microbiology from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and my PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I also have extensive experience working in molecular biology, immunology, virology, microbiology, and biochemistry research laboratories during my career.

Knowledgeable, kind tutor, with impressive experience and dedication

Marisa is working with my daughter who is interested in microbiology. She goes above and beyond by collaborating with my daughter regarding topics to cover and then puts a lot of work into their sessions. My daughter really enjoys working with Marisa. She goes above and beyond for her students. We are very grateful that we found her and that she is supporting our daughter's interest. I can't recommend her highly enough! I have been incredibly happy with her and impressed by her dedication to her students, the time she invests into them, and her wealth of knowledge. She is a true gem.
