Born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska I graduated from The University of Alaska Fairbanks with a Bachelors of Technology in Fire Business Management, and a Degree in Municipal Fire Fighting. After spending 5 years working for The University of Alaska Fairbanks Fire Department, I moved to Madison, Wisconsin and spent the next 20 years working for the City of Madison Fire Department as a full time paramedic, firefighter, tactical paramedic, and rescue scuba diver.

During that time frame I had opportunities to be a lead instructor for numerous fire and ems academies for the Madison Fire Department, and started working part time at our local community college in the EMS department. I got hired 2 years ago as a full time faculty member with Madison College, and have been guiding new paramedics and EMT's as they start their journey. We are a fully accredited medic and EMT program that has connections with local stroke, trauma, and children's hospitals and utilize numerous high fidelity simulation machines.

What do I love about tutoring? Mixing the field and classroom into someone's training and watching them get it. Watching them have a "Ah Ha" moment where it finally clicks. Watching a student come back to the classroom to share their field experiences with students is one of the greatest feelings. Nothing says success to me like watching someone graduate out our doors with a safety first, patient orientated mindset.

My experiences tutoring, and educating, have ranged from high school seniors to adults and everybody in between. I have worked with large groups of EMS departments, and fire departments to organize training sessions.

If my students are willing to do the work on their end, I will go above and beyond to make sure they are successful. If a student has the right work attitude and work ethic, I can do so much with that. Having experiences teaching and tutoring over numerous age ranges has helped me adapt styles to each individual person.
