About Jonathan

I am a second year medical student at University of Wisconsin, and am excited to offer tutoring services to high school students and pre-med applicants in college. Although I have limited experience in test preparation, I have experience tutoring high school students in their subjects as well as anatomy tutoring during medical school.

I am quite flexible when it comes to meeting and arranging tutoring times. I can offer broad tutoring in ACT, SAT, and MCAT preparation, as well as course materials. Just let me know what you would like and I can tailor your tutoring plan to meet your needs.

I placed in the 97th percentile in ACT Math and in the 98th percentile in ACT Science.

I received a 36 (13 physical science, 12 biological sciences, and 11 verbal), which is the 96th percentile on average.

I have extensive experience with classical music composition, and have a Bachelors Degree in Music with a composition/piano concentration. I will help you harness your creativity and give you the tools to express your musical ideas in a well-constructed manner.

I encourage you to contact me if you are interested in arranging tutoring sessions. Thank you for taking the time to read my tutoring profile, and I look forward to meeting you! Take care.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Composition (Music)

I received a B.Mus. in Music Composition from the University of Michigan in 2010, with a concentration in piano performance. My teachers included William Bolcom, Bright Sheng, Evan Chambers, Susan Botti, and Erik Santos. I have tutored burgeoning composers to allow them to realize their creativity.

MCAT

I took the MCAT once in May 2014, where I received a 36, with subscores 13 in Physical Sciences, 12 in Biological Sciences, and 11 in Verbal Reasoning. I had to learn appropriate study skills to be able to master this test, and I will be able to convey these to my students and collaborate to obtain an appropriate study strategy.

Piano

Since I was five years of age through college, I have been taking formal piano lessons. I continued formal classical training through my undergraduate studies where I studied with Louis Nagel, DMA, at the University of Michigan, concluding with a graduate recital. His teachers included Vladimir Ashkenazi and Josef Levine. I own a well-maintained baby grand Young Chang piano at my home, which can be used for piano lessons if the student does not own one.
