I taught English as a second or foreign language at all levels and practically for all ages for 24 years in France and Spain. I taught grammar, advanced conversation, and composition at the University of Deusto in Bilbao and those subjects, as well as all levels of language proficiency, in the ESL program of the American Cultural Center connected to the American embassy in Madrid. In the Madrid program I was a model teacher for interns from the St. Louis University esl course and for new and part-time teachers.
Grammar,

Grammar

I compiled my first English grammar book when I was in the fifth grade! As a student and later as an English teacher I was always the go-to person for my colleagues when they had doubts either about usage or about how to explain certain grammar concepts to students. On top of an early grounding in English I have had a lifetime of reading, writing, speaking, and teaching both native speakers and speakers of other languages.
Spanish,

Spanish

I was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, as well as a Fulbright Scholar and Teaching Assistant in France. I lived in Spain from 1970 to 1992. I taught French and Spanish at Fisk University and at Texas A&M, and taught Spanish at Tennessee State U., the University of the South, and the UW-Madison.
