Is online tutoring better than in person tutoring?

Turns out – it is!

I tutored in person for over 5-years, and went 100% online. Going online allowed me to lower my rate from $100/hr to $40/hr due to travel time, parking, and other misc. situations.

Why is online better?

Four simple reasons:

1) When you work at home, in your comfort zone, you absorb information more effectively.
2) There are no distractions from random people or feeling uncomfortable meeting someone new.
3) No time/money wasted traveling.
4) The lesson is recorded so you can focus on learning not making notes.

I am ready to help you succeed. I have proven success!

Info:

2 services offered:

- one-on-one online through WyzAnt's platform

- Individual lessons made with a recorder video discussion on homework problems (most effective, and best price option). This is nice because you can reference your lessons later on to study for exams as well as share them with classmates. I am an expert content creator for mathematics based problems with thousands of examples. Please ask to see some.

Math: one-on-one and or written/video lessons

Physics: written/video lessons (usually 1hr rate for 3-5 lessons)

Bio:

My name is Jonathan and I specialize in tutoring college students in all levels of calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. I have spent the past five years tutoring students in these courses from colleges and universities all over the country.

I have built a library of over 2,000 lessons, written multiple resource books, and have had huge success with my work.

With me, a student will understand the weeks assignment within our 2hr session. I require a student to schedule a weekly 2hr session due to the complexity of the work, and to complete all or most of that weeks assignment.

If you would like to see any of my work, please email me and I will provide you with examples of how an online session would work with me.

Algebra 1,
Algebra 2, Calculus,

Linear Algebra,
Prealgebra, Precalculus, Trigonometry

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Pre-algebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II are probably the most important math classes one will take. It is essential that one understands at least 90% of the material in these subjects before moving on to Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus... One can get a good grasp of these classes with less understanding; one cannot, however, begin to approach these classes without the proper foundation.

I have been helping students improve their test scores on average 30% for over two years now. I have an ability to reiterated what most people perceive as complicated in a simple fashion which allows one to absorb the concept properly.

These three subjects, if going into a science degree, are more important that anything else; it is essential that one has a superb understanding of them.

Calculus

I have multiple years of experience working through hundreds of different levels and variations of Calculus courses at the college level ranging from basic business calculus courses to advanced engineering. I have written and published a few preparatory books, guides and crash courses on calculus and have produced thousands of educational videos via YouTube.

Calculus is the alphabet of science and algebra is the grammar. A Student must learn to write stories in order to succeed. In a Calculus and any other upper division course, the answer to a problem is not important, it is the solution and the solution must be written with the utmost precision. I can help prevent serious point-loss on exams due to incorrect mathematical grammar and show what material to focus on in order to gain maximum potential for higher grades. To date: I have solved approximately 50,000 calculus problems.

Differential Equations

Differential equations is not a difficult class, in fact if one knows how to do Calculus proficiently and understands how to "plug-and-chug" a formula DE is a breeze. I took this class over a 4 week summer course while working full time and passed it with flying colors.

As a tutor this course is the most simple to reiterate to students. I currently am working with a company on applying a transform of a first order Differential Equation with other functions involving the PID method an inputting the Laplace Transformation in order to complete a looping energy flow as a mathematical description as a second order Differential Equation.

If you are concerned about this class, you should not be. As long as your Calculus is good this class will be a breeze. I can show you how easy it is.

Linear Algebra

I have over two years of Linear Algebra experience ranging from business applications, engineering applications, and physics applications, and have created youtube videos geared towards tutoring the subject.

I have helped many students at the University of Dallas take their grades in Linear Algebra from D's, F's and worse to either a passing grade or A's. Linear Algebra is a relatively new subject so many professors just do not have the curriculum down. I have taken many Linear Algebra courses, from simple to advanced, and I have learned what is important to point out to beginners so that they do not get lost in the subject and can keep up with the course as it progresses.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry next to Algebra, is the next most important subject as a up and coming scientist. If one is going into science related mathematics, it is crucial that they fully understand trigonometry. If one can comprehend the theories in Trig it will make the latter classes, i.e. physics, calculus… so much easier to understand and approach. I have hundreds of hours of working with trigonometric functions and concepts. If this is a subject you seem to be struggling with, I will simplify it for you.

First online session ever. Loved it!

I actually booked this online lesson by mistake. I wanted an in-person session but I thought I should give it a try. I Experienced the online lesson for the first time and I loved it! I used to do in-person lessons and sometimes I need to drive to see the tutor but the online tutoring is way better and more convenient. I was in my room the whole time and learned more than I thought I would. The pl
