I am currently an English as a Second Language teacher at a local elementary school in Jefferson, WI. I majored in French at UW-Madison, with a certificate in TESOL, and returned to school in 2010 to earn my K-12 foreign language educator's license, along with an ESL license. I spent one year (2007-2008) teaching English to middle school boys in South Korea. I really enjoy teaching, and have taught English as a Second Language to people at almost every age level, from 5 to 70. I have also taught middle school French at Kromrey Middle School in Middleton, WI.
I have always enjoyed tutoring, and have helped my peers throughout all of my years in school. I am quite good with language (I have studied French for my entire life, and lived in France when I was a small child; I also studied Russian and Spanish at UW-Madison), and really enjoy teaching them to others. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have been teaching ESL for the past 2 years for various institutes, including WESLI and the Madison Area Literacy Network. From September 2007 to September 2008 I taught English to middle school students in South Korea.
I am a licensed K-12 French educator.
