About Jennifer

Bio

I am a mother of three: 24 (girl), 22(girl) and 17(boy). As a stay-at-home mother, I have been very active in my children’s schools and saw firsthand what successful teachers did to connect with their students. I had the opportunity to help out in my children’s elementary classrooms, to be a volunteer middle school track coach, and math tutor, and was a Girl Scout Leader for 5 years. Through these experiences, I have learned the impact teachers can have on our children.

Teachers have the power to change lives. With this knowledge, I made the choice to return to college to continue my education, and eventually return to the workforce to share my love of art with our young people.

Art can be a vehicle which gives children a sense of belonging, accomplishment, and success. By exploring new techniques, studying other cultures, and reflecting on their inner selves, students will unlock their creativity and gain
self-confidence that will expand into all arenas of their lives.

My educational background has prepared me for the role of art educator. Beyond my education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an art education major, I have spent the last year substitute teaching, and I have worked as a glass and metal artist for the last 12 years.

Art should be fun...and educational...but mostly fun. We all learn more when we are enjoying ourselves! Let's learn together.
