My name is Leah T. I graduated High School in May of 2016. During my senior year in High School, I decided to be a teacher's aide at a local elementary school. I helped this third grade class during their work time. I was keyed in to what they were learning which helped me to go around the classroom and help any student on the subject at hand. I especially helped the few students who struggled to keep up, so the teacher was able to move on with the lesson. Also, this last summer, I tutored kids Monday through Thursday for at least two hours a day at their home. I learned to create small lesson plans based on what level they were at in specific subjects. I loved this job because I was able to grasp the idea of what it is like to be an educator which is my goal for the future: to be an educator. Seeing kids learn something and actually improving in subjects they may struggle in is my favorite part of the job when helping them in their education.
(My music background):
I have been playing the piano since the 2nd grade and absolutely loved it. I have played at my church. I also had the exciting opportunity to play for musicals starting at the age of 11, where an adult would typically accompany for. This led me to help accompany school music programs. I also made state (the farthest I could go) in a music competition. Experiences like these helped me receive a large scholarship for music. I would be more comfortable working with students who are just starting to learn because I have never taught anyone how to play. My first piano student will also be a learning experience for me!
