I am currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, and will be graduating in May with a bachelor's degree in biology and also will have a minor in psychology. In addition, I have also been granted an Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc. In addition to school, I have also worked the last several years as a youth mentor for children with mental and physical disabilities, and have worked with a broad range of children (autism, down syndrome, ADD, cerebral palsy, etc.). I am able to tutor high level science and English courses, as well as all elementary and middle school subjects.
Due to my collegiate experience and relevant job history, I believe that I would be a good fit for most children looking for tutors. I have experience working with a wide variety of children who have profound challenges academically and have been able to make great strides with said children. In addition to working with these children on more elementary problems, I also have a great deal of experience in high level science and English courses from my experiences in college. Finally, if your child is looking for test prep such as ACT or GRE, I have taken both and done well on both, so I believe that I would be of service when it comes to preparation and study tips. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a college student studying biology and minoring in psychology, and will be graduating in spring. In addition to these science classes, I have taken a wide variety of higher level math, English and history courses that would qualify me to work with students in a variety of elementary subjects. In addition, I have also worked extensively in the past as a mentor for children in elementary school and am aware of the type of material that these children are expected to master.
