I have had 50+ years' experience in Music (being a choir director, accompanist, and teacher of music theory, music notation and instruments). I have taught individual piano and guitar lessons for the past 10 years.
My strong-suits in English are vocabulary, grammar, writing, proofreading, and spelling. I wrote for local newspapers for five years, and Wisconsin Public Service for two years.
I have an avid interest in reading, writing, composing music, desktop publication, Hawaii and working with all kinds of people, be they young or not so young. I have an excellent ability to establish a positive, professional relationship and rapport with my "customers." I am outgoing and have a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken courses in music notation and theory when I was a student at Lakeland College from 1969-1973. I have composed music since 1965 (although not as yet published). I taught elements of music composition to K-8 students from 2007-2012.
I have done desktop publishing (cards, newsletters, posters, calendars, etc.) for over 10 years. I have operated a small desktop publishing business doing "jobs" for customers according to their designs. I used desktop publishing to produce a school newsletter for Consolidated Parochial Elementary School from 2007-2010.
I played percussion since my high school days from 1965-1969. I played percussion in the Kiel Municipal Band from 1965-1976. I taught a class in percussion my senior year in college (1973) for half a semester and again when I taught at Consolidated Parochial Elementary School (2007-2012).
I was a music minor in college from 1969-1973, taking classes in music theory, notation, history and appreciation. I took a strong music concentration when I went back to college in 1999-2002 to get my teaching license. I have 50+ years of experience in music since learning how to play the piano when I was four years old, having been church accompanist for seven different churches. I am also the choir director at Holy Rosary Parish in New Holstein and directed the Youth Choir for six years. I taught music at two parochial elementary schools in the past 10 years.
I have played the guitar for the past 30+ years. I taught individual guitar lessons to Grade 3 to grade 6 for five years. I have accompanied singers with the guitar for the past 10 years.
I have played piano, organ and keyboard for 59 years. I have accompanied numerous churches for their services. I have taught piano lessons for the past 5+ years.
