I have a Spanish Linguistics degree, and I taught EFL in Guatemala for over four years. In Guatemala, I taught all ages, University of Landivar, private high schools/middle schools, language academies, and private lessons on my own to children and adults.
In most language classes, memorization and rote grammar is the way to go. I consider my method of teaching one of the best ways to learn a language. It has never failed, and you get to have conversations (at any level!) in your new language most of the class. I focus on conversations with me and/or partners in order to solidify a strong grammar base. This conversation-based class is then coupled with writing, reading, worksheets, and listening activities to bring everything together.
If receiving tutoring for a school class is your goal, I have had great success with that as well. I still use my base of conversation in order to learn whatever subject you are learning in your class. I have a Spanish Linguistics degree, and I taught EFL in Guatemala for over four years. I base my payment on the amount of hours per week. The more hours, the cheaper it is. Thank you.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
