UW-Madison School of Education (Elementary Education)

Hi. I'm Ellen.
I received my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from UW-Madison and my Masters degree from Viterbo University. During my years as a middle school teacher, I have been trained in using best practices to match student's learning styles with specific teaching strategies. Besides working with a whole class, I have worked with small groups and one-on-one to help students achieve their potential.
I have worked with students Kindergarten through grade 10, in math, science, language arts, social studies and study skills. I have also tutored older students, grades 11 and 12, as well as college students and adults.
I look forward to hearing from you. Send me an email! Hi. I'm Ellen.

I love that Ellen took the time to get to know my daughter and help find resources to work with her. My daughter learns by KINESTHETIC and Ellen is trying to help her use that in her studying. Ellen always has a great attitude when meeting with my daughter and my daughter wants to go again.
My daughter loved Ellen and felt very comfortable working with her. She was very confident and happy after the session.
Thanks, Sheila! I look forward to working with Morgan again next week!
Ellen is a patient, professional, and kind tutor. My son has ADHD and struggles with his attention. She was unbelievably patient and kind with him and not only taught him strategies in reading and writing but also talked with him and built up his confidence in his abilities in these subjects. We highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Review and test preparation for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) includes Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematic Knowledge, Word Knowledge, and Paragraph Comprehension.
Because the tests are timed, it is essential to review and practice first. I can help you prepare for the four subjects within the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT).
Knowing how and what to study is a frequently overlooked skill. Students can be taught study skills and find greater success in school. As a certified elementary school teacher, I can help a student organize, plan, and learn how to study.
