As a certified Elementary teacher, I am eager to help students excel in academics and life. Over the past two years, while teaching at Sacheon English Library for Children and GNB English Academy, both in South Korea, I was able to feel the reward of imparting knowledge on young minds, while at the same time learning from the children and culture. The excitement in the faces of the students was inspiring in itself, but watching them apply what they had learned was a true joy. With education being a gateway to opportunity in today's world, I wish to contribute to increasing these opportunities for children.
Teaching at Sacheon English Library for Children was the greatest adventure of my working life. Apart from the delight of being in a place with such a rich history and living in a place with a diverse people, I made every effort to learn from my experiences in and out of the classroom. Elements taken from my previous experiences as a teacher, nanny, and student working to complete a post-baccalaureate teacher certification program will all benefit me in the goal to help students become engaged and active in their learning. The quote from Dr. Seuss, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go,” genuinely speaks to what I regard as crucial in the classroom environment. My principal motive for teaching is the opportunity for excitement, adventure and allowing students the liberty to realize their potential.
I believe that with positive role models, high expectations, exciting classrooms, and hard work, students can achieve a great deal. I try to introduce all of these aspects in my classroom, and believe that creating interest in a variety of subjects aids in the pursuit of excellence. I look forward to know the reward of guiding students in and out of the classroom. With my love for a variety of experiences, rock climbing, and the natural world, I am eager to give my best to others, inspire a willingness to learn, and share my exuberance for life. With that said, I wish to impart what knowledge I hold while acquiring wisdom from the children and my surroundings. I am ready for another adventure and am eager to incite the same for my students.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
