Loyola University Chicago (Communication Studies)
My longtime passion for learning has always been my primary motivation for teaching, and it's that same dedication that has been my drive to tutor in various capacities for the past five years. After working with 5th-8th graders individually in mathematics (Pre-Algebra/Algebra I), I've expanded my work to include all high school courses as well as reading comprehension for elementary school in group settings.
I have also been lucky enough to works as a kindergarten teacher's aide in a Montessori program, and combined with the positive experience of leading Scouts as an Eagle Scout, I am currently pursuing a BA in Communication Studies (and Theatre) at Loyola University Chicago, where I tutor my peers as a member of the Interdisciplinary Honors Program.
Above all else, I strive to see education not as a contract between instructed and instructor, but as a dialogue between two students of learning, and I hope to learn just as much from your student as they do.
AB Calculus: 5
Mathematics comes naturally to me, and luckily I can adapt to the changing methods that students may experience in school. I know every student's ideal approach to a problem will be different, and I'm dedicated to helping them find their own problem-solving strategy and perspective.
AP US History: 5
Another life-long interest of mine, I focus on making history, the subject oft-regarded as impractical, relevant to the formation of present-day attitudes and philosophies as well as entertaining. History was never boring when it was happening. People only lost interest when they assigned a few numbers and stuck it on a timeline.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Having been a student of Catholic and Jesuit institutions for 14 years, I am well-versed in the Christian faith and texts. Beyond a solid knowledge of Western traditions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism) however, I also am familiar with Eastern and Native American spiritualties. Although I consider myself a Catholic, I nevertheless am committed to not letting my own beliefs influence those of others.
In addition to being a theatre student for several years, I have served as a senior student leader for various theatre programs in the Milwaukee area. I've been involved in Community Theatre Works, First Stage Children's Theatre, and two high school theatre programs in multiple lead roles (musical and non-musical). Most recently I wrapped up a stint as Artistic Education Intern in the Education Dept. for Milwaukee-based Skylight Music Theatre.
