About Jill

My name is Jill. I offer students tutoring in Reading or Writing. More specifically, I would offer assistance with reading, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and comprehension. I am very positive and very encouraging.

I have eight years of experience substitute teaching for K-12. My assignments were designated mostly in Learning Disabled classrooms covering English, Spelling, and Math.

I earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, graduating Cum Laude in three and a half years. I lived with a family in Avignon, France for a semester.

I have a passion for writing, and have had a couple of articles accepted by magazines. I am a stickler for correct grammar, and I love seeing the English language conveyed correctly.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

My primary assignments during my substitute teaching experiences were Learning Disabled classrooms covering elementary Reading, Spelling, Writing and Math. I pride myself on very good grammar, and enjoy using it to improve Reading and Writing. I volunteered as a tutor for the Racine Literacy Center and as a Reader for the Education and Reading Service at Gateway Technical College. I have been a substitute teacher in K-12 for 8 years.

Tennis

I am a 4.0 rated tennis player with approximately 20 years of experience. My playing experience has come from both singles and doubles. I have always been a great student and lover of the game. I am an Open Racquetball player and instructor of the game. My all around teaching experience, of course, lends benefits.

Very Happy — WOW!!! What a great experience my son had with Ms. Jill during their first meeting. Ms. Jill is a warm, friendly woman who displays a sincere interest in her students. She entered our home, greeted my son and his siblings, and was interested in what he was trying to communicate to her. I shared my concerns with his reading and she was very receptive to the information. After the session, she was ...
