Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

My my education included included training to serve in the area of children and adults with Aspergers. I have had over 35 years of experience working in this area of expertise.

Autism

I am a certified Director and teacher in the areas of Special Education. I taught and supervised in the Appleton School Distrct my Entire career. I have taught in classrooms with autistic children and adults. My last couple of years teaching I specialized in autism. My class consisted of six high school age students who were diagnosed with autism. I also have three grandchildren who are within the spectrum of autism. I attend conferences with their mother to aid in developing appropriate educational experiences.

Baseball

I have coached all levels from preschool through adult over my 50 years. This has included being a head coach at the high school and college levels.

Basketball

I have coached all levels from preschool through adult over my 50 years. This has included being a head coach at the high school and college levels. I have coached both high school and adult AAU teams here in Wisconsin. I took time off to coach my own children and two of my daughters went on to college with basketball scholarships.

I have coached several womens teams and seem to be able to develop their skills at a more rapid pace. They seem to listen better, play as a team and have less tendency to try to be the individual star. I have enjoyed my time coaching womens teams. They have come a long way since the implement of title 9.

Common Core

I graduated with a dual certification in both Exceptional Education and K-8 grade teaching. I have had more than 30 years experience teaching and tutoring within those levels.

Dyslexia

I am a certified Director and teacher in the areas of Special Education. I taught and supervised in the Appleton School District my entire career. I was diagnosed myself with dyslexia and had to over come those obsticles in suceeding in my undergraduate, graduate and post grad education. I have taught and tutored many individuals with dyslexia.

Elementary (K-6th)

In addition to Exception Education, I had dual a major in Elementary Education.

Fitness

I have developed fitness programs for hundreds of high school and college athletes. This includes a combination of weight training, nutritional balance and conditioning through running. I follow a schedule of individualized training with runners. There are schedules developed to meet the needs of runners and athletes who happen to be at different levels of development. No one program will fit everyone. My coaching is designed to increase the potential of each individual.

Macintosh

I have used Apple products since they first came on the market in the 80"s. I purchased the first 128K and have been upgrading ever since. I have taught computers at both the elementary and high school levels. I was responsible for cleaning "Word" glitches from all the machines at a local high school and installing password protection. I am currently using a 3T iMac with 10.11.2 El Capitan OS.

Softball

In Wisconsin, softball is promoted as a girls program in parrallel with the boys baseball program. The fundamentals are very much the same. The approach to teaching girls is very different than male athletes. They often times have a more difficult time responding to critisizm. However, as a father of three daughters and a coach of many womens sports I have been successful.

Special Needs

I am a certified Director and teacher in the areas of Special Education. I taught and supervised in the Appleton School Distrct my Entire career. Special Needs is just another name for Exceptional Education. I have a lifetime license to teach in this discipline. I am a behavior modification specialist and have worked both in school districts and mental hospital as a teacher, supervisor and evaluator. I do have well over 35 years of experience in this particular area.

Study Skills

My long time approach in all my years of teaching has always been to present lessons as being unique to each individual. I have applied my observation to what is determined to be the stumbling blocks to each child's focus, organization and learning style.

Track & Field

I have coached all levels from preschool through adult over my 50 years. Thi has included being a head coach at the high school and college levels. I have coached some of the top athletes in Wisconsin. As head track coach we had several conference titles as well as titles in regional and sectionals. I had several of my athletes who either won or place high in the state track meets. I participated myself all the way through college and qualified for Olympic trials in 1964. I have personally won the Wisconsin State championships in High Jump as well as the Midwest championship in AAU competition. I have coached several high school all americans and one held the record for race walking in the USA. My specialty in distance running and I have had several runner go on to top Universities and be successful.

I have coached both men and women over the years in both track and field and cross country. Many of my track athletes would also join me at cross country time since they were different seasons. I very often had runners who were not particularily meant for cross country, but worked out with me anyway because of my conditioning routines that would help them with other sports.
