Capitol College of Engineering (Electrical Engineer)
I am an electrical engineer, inventor, product architect, luthier, entrepeneur, designer and prototype creator/builder. I have designed literally dozens of products that were sold around the world representing millions of dollars in revenue. The disciplines range from audio/video, industrial, automotive, recording, consumer, medical, aeronautics, aerospace & more. My expertise covers market research, product development, electrical engineering, human interface ergonomics and more.
Beyond electrical engineering, I run an electronics lab, a metal and woodworking shop, a CNC mill and laser cutter for custom design work and product manufacturing, including building the first professional electroacoustic ukulele. I troubleshoot and repair our automobiles, have an eclectic heart for music and play the ukulele.
My work has taken me to RCA recording studios in NYC for a huge press release and demonstration of my new product design along with Jack Renner of Telarc Records and the Soundstream digital tape recorder as the source.
Another product took me to the Museum of Holographic Arts in NYC for a press release of the new Carver Sonic Holography television. I expanded audio holography to a whole new level. Many companies around the world are now using similar concepts to enhance their small tv sound. I have been behind the design of many professional electronics products.
I have a down to earth way of communicating to people. I do not like to use abbreviations and acronyms to make myself sound smart because I never know who is in the meeting that needs to understand me. I like to find out the technical level of someone before I explain things so I can adapt my explanation to the individual.
Electrical engineering is best understood when you have an understanding of the basic physics of electricity. I have an excellent grasp of the very basics which helps me to teach an intuitive approach to engineering.
I want a person to walk away with an understanding so strong that they could impress even the professionals on the topic. Many people are schooled on the latest high tech functions through memory learning but fail to understand the basics which gives a much firmer foundation for learning. If your knowledge is based on a firm foundation of the fundamentals, it paves the way for a better ability to apply the more technical things. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
