Meliesa is an Educational Therapist, an Academic Coach, and award-winning writer and speaker.
She got her license as an Educational Therapist and worked at learning centers in San Francisco and Seattle before moving home to open FocalPoint in Wenatchee.
Meliesa has been honored for her many academic achievements as a Presidential Leadership Scholar, and has been honored at the American Academy of Achievement and the Banquet of the Golden Scroll.
She obtained a Bachelor's of Arts with High Honors from the Honors College of the University of Montana in 1995.
During the years Meliesa was being honored for her achievements in language arts, she was hiding a math disability and struggling with ADD. Meliesa used the methods she teaches to overcome ADD and learn math.
She was eventually able to “make her worst thing her best thing,” and is the author of Math Mapping. Today, Meliesa would rather teach math than anything else, because she has been there.
If Meliesa looks familiar to you, it might be because she is the Red Clown of the Wenatchee Youth Circus.
Meliesa is an excellent communicator. As a person who struggled with math -- she understands where students get confused, and can help them understand. Many teachers just show one example after another, and the student is still confused. She can explain it so the student understands.
If you want your best math grade ever -- schedule some time with her.
