Hello and welcome!
As a former college writing center consultant, I understand what it is to be both the student and the tutor (and how unnerving it can be to share your work, even on days when your self-esteem is fairly intact). My technique is one that offers respect to the student, and the student's work and goals. I prefer to use a Socratic approach by asking the student questions and helping him/her think through obstacles. After using this method for over 10 years, I have found it not only empowers the student to take responsibility as a learner but also to develop problem-solving skills, thus requiring less frequent help from a tutor. I tutor an array of subjects, including reading, pace and pronunciation in speech, essay assignments, PowerPoint presentations, and out-of-class writing projects. I regularly collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and supervisors to determine student needs, develop tutoring plans, or assess student progress.
My personal research habits, education, and employment history have given me a wealth of experience in various subjects and have made me a well-rounded and thorough tutor. I am eager to hear from you so we can get started!
-ESL/TESOL: kindergarten through adult students, beginner to advanced levels
-Students with learning and/or physical disabilities

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received one of my minors in creative writing and worked as a writing consultant for more than three years at the university I attended. I worked with students from freshman to graduate levels and many of the students I saw were working on English assignments. I would love to help you with any English or writing assignment you receive!
I have worked with elementary level ESL students and college level ESL students on English reading and writing. We can work on anything from basic alphabet skills to grammar to punctuation.
As someone who understands how tricky grammar can be, I can help you learn easy ways to remember rules and where to turn when you aren’t sure how to make corrections.
Whether you need a proofreader for an assignment or would like to better your skills as a proofreader yourself, we can work together to create the solutions you need!
My B.A. is in Family Studies, a degree which includes many classes in psychology. I have also continued to study trauma, depression, abuse, and other psychology related subjects since I received my degree.
While at Central Washington University, I received a minor in Religious Studies. This gave me expertise in the following:
-General religious studies
-Sacred texts of world religions
-Religions of India
Learning vocabulary is more than just memorizing words; it is about how we apply words in real life. We can play games, make up stories, and even have contests to learn how to use words. Together, we can make learning vocabulary fun!
As a writing consultant, writing was my specialty! Although polishing grammar and punctuation is an important step, I believe good writing begins with forming ideas. I can help students with brainstorming and outlining, sentence and paragraph arrangement, appropriate use of quotations and citations, and much more!
