About Roman

I was born in Odessa, Ukraine. I moved to Portland when I was 7 and have lived in the area for 20+ years.

I attended Portland State University where I volunteered with the local IT organization and volunteer with the the Association for Computing Machinery tutoring Computer Science. I graduated from there with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

I've worked as a programmer for Intel and HP, mostly concentrating on building tests and automation tools.

During my job I've mostly worked with C, C#, powershell, and python. From those C# and powershell are among my favorites, but I also like to explore different languages and programming methodologies.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

C#

I'm a Software Engineer (Computer Science Bachelor) and C# was one of the primary languages at my previous job at intel (mainly debugging).

I've written a few mvvm wpf apps (relating to automation).

C# is one of my favorite languages and I love exploring all the features they've added including lambdas(although the Action/Func distinction caused by lack of unit types is annoying), yield iterators, extension methods, even expression trees(in a few cases).

Python

I have a CS degree.
I'm a Software Engineer II and Python is the primary language we use at work.
I've been using Python for 5+ years.
