I graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1994 and began my teaching career right after that. I have taught all levels of High School Mathematics, from Pre-Algebra all the way through AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics, as well as adjunct teaching at the Community College level.
I work hard at making Math easier for students to understand, and realize that helping students make sense of the logic is imperative to success. I use a variety of methods while tutoring, including the use of manipulatives and dialogue to help students gain concrete understanding of topics.
While not in school, I enjoy singing and playing my piano and guitar, as well as the occasional round of golf. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
