Bio

I have been teaching Special Education for eight years. The last two years I taught K-5 Resource Room at a local Elementary School. The previous six years I taught in Lakewood at Mann Middle school, the self-contained classroom with students with behavioral disabilities. I have been teaching Special Education for eight years. The last two years I taught K-5 Resource Room at a local Elementary School. The previous six years I taught in Lakewood at Mann Middle school, the self-contained classroom with students with behavioral disabilities. For seven years before that I worked at Child Study and Treatment Center as a Psychiatric Child C.A.R.E. Counselor. My favorite subject to teach is math, because there are so many ways to learn the same concept. Then you get to choose what makes sense to you! I also have taught all other subjects, including Social Skills.

I have loved math since I was a kid! I took pre-algebra and algebra in Middle school. Then Geometry and Trigonometry in high school. I have taught math for students in K-8. I love to incorporate games, art and activities into my teaching, as well as using the functionality of it to help the learning ingrain deeper in my students’ minds.

I have taught reading for K-8 grades. I like to incorporate multiple learning styles (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) in order for my students to understand what they are learning to the best of their abilities. I did not love reading growing up, but wish I did. So, I try to make it as fun as possible and utilize my students’ interests to help them enjoy it, too!

I worked at a children’s psychiatric facility for seven years with children ages 6-18 with a variety of disabilities. Since then I have worked as a Special Education teacher for students K-8 with learning and behavioral disabilities.

I love working with students on achieving their goals and I’d like to help you do the same! Challenging students are my favorite and need the most love and support. I am currently taking the year off from teaching to raise my 1st child, but I miss helping students. I hope to hear from you!
