There are at least three main advantages of this approach: First, it teaches a student how to better study and learn on their own, which is essential for almost any career.
Second, it means that a tutor doesn't have to waste the student's time going over things that the student can easily master on their own. Third, it allows time for the more interesting questions and content. My goal is that the student truly *understands* the material, not just temporarily memorizes some mysterious sequence of steps. Math, more than any other subject, builds upon itself. If you don't understand the foundations, the next levels won't make any sense.
My math background includes Algebra, Calculus, Two and Three Dimensional Geometry, Trigonometry, Numerical Analysis, Real Analysis, Number Theory, Foundations of Math, History of Math, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Probability, and Statistics.
Programming languages: C, C++, HTML, JavaScript.
