Georgia State University (Philosophy)
University of West Georgia (Master's)
Hi! I recently graduated from the University of West Georgia with my Master's in Psychology and am looking for employment as a professor. In the meantime, I'd like to share my passion for learning wherever possible! I have worked as a mentor for numerous university-level psychology courses, such as General Psychology, Abnormal Psych, and Social Psychology, just to name a few. My specialties are psychoanalysis (Freudian psychology) and existential psychology/ philosophy. I also minored in Economics, so I have a working knowledge of this area as well.
Although my "area of expertise" lies within these fields, I am also an adept writer with a keen eye for proof-reading and reading-comprehension.
My hope is to use my experience and knowledge to assist others in attaining their educational goals. If it looks like my background might be a good match for what you are looking for, please, drop me a line! Thank you for your time, and good luck in your future academic endeavors!
A philosophy professor of mine once said, paraphrasing Immanuel Kant: "Psychology without philosophy is blind; philosophy without psychology is empty." I took this statement to heart, and sought to learn as much as I could about these two disciplines. While I do not believe I will ever have "all the answers" as to what makes humans "human," I have been thoroughly enjoying the process of trying! I do believe that the process of learning and discovery--the "exercise of reason"--is an integral part of our human existence; therefore, I seek to learn and discover new things on a daily basis. If I am able to help even just one other individual find their own path to self-discovery, I will have considered my task as a teacher a success.
I have always been an avid reader and writer. My undergraduate education in philosophy taught me to think analytically, and to decipher difficult texts and interpret them in my own words. My graduate education allowed me to hone my these skills, while furthering my experience as a researcher. I hope to use these abilities to assist others in overcoming their own obstacles to reading, writing, and English more generally.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years. I have also played with numerous groups and musicians in a variety of settings, sometimes to crowds of 50+ people. My specialty is blues/ rock, with an emphasis on classic rock. I believe a student learns best when they are learning something they love: therefore, my approach is to help students learn songs they are already familiar with, in the hope that they will take that knowledge and apply it to their own creations.
I have a BA in philosophy from GSU. I graduated with honors. I also have a Masters in Psychology.
I have earned my Master's in Psychology.
