I'm a French native speaker from Quebec, Canada. I moved to Tacoma in the summer of 2010. I have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences and a Master's in International Relations.
French is what I am. I speak, write, read and was living my life in French before moving to Washington State. I thus can help you with it: grammar, speaking, pronunciation ... With any struggle you have with this beautiful yet difficult language.
Learning other languages is hard, but so rewarding! It opens doors on other cultures! I know it myself because I learned two second languages: English and Spanish. I learned English in school when I was young, in College, traveling, reading, working ... same thing with Spanish. In school, traveling, working ... and because of that, I can understand better other cultures that wouldn’t have been accessible to me before. I think that’s great! And I think it’s great that you are trying to learn French and I want to help you with it.
I also traveled the world and visited maybe 35 countries in every continents except Antarctica. I have a graduate degree in International Relations, worked abroad, and follow international politics and economics. Geography is so interesting once you understand what it can bring you! Thanks Ariane. I was mispronouncing key words so the local French would not have a clue what I was saying!
Ariane has been extremely prepared able to meet the curricular needs of our tutoring sessions, always on time and positive while working with my child, and her methods match sound teaching practices building upon background knowledge and interests she has engaged my child in conversation while encouraging practice, practice, and more practice.
Our whole family takes lessons from Ariane. We appreciate her patience and enjoy her sense of humor. She's punctual and arrives prepared with a lesson plan and information from multiple sources to augment her tutoring, helping us grasp French grammar concepts, vocabulary, and verb conjugation. We are most interested in Canadian French, her native language. However, her knowledge of multiple languages, as well as having lived in both France and Quebec, gives her much experience to be able to expand her lessons to exactly what we are looking for, including pronunciation differences and colloquial expressions. When we are struggling, she patiently reviews with us and intuits our learning pace. If we have more complicated questions, she encourages us to contact her in between lessons so that she can tailor our next meeting to help us better understand. She is eager to help her students succeed, and we are so happy to have her as our tutor. Merci beaucoup, Ariane!
I really like Ariane's methodology. She is very patient and is always speaking French more than English so I can get used to the language faster, and this is a very positive thing in my opinion!
Ariane is very patient. Can reach her if I need to contact her by phone. My daughter is enjoying her lessons very much.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm a native French speaker, reader, writer. I can help with any aspects: grammar, pronunciation, speaking practice, etc. For having taught it to my husband, I know it's a hard language to learn. But nothing is impossible with a little help.
Ma langue maternelle est le français. Je le parle, l'écris et le lis. Je peux aider avec la grammaire, la prononciation, pratiquer l'oral, etc. Pour l'avoir enseigné à mon mari, je suis consciente que c'est une langue difficile à apprendre. Mais rien n'est impossible avec un peu d'aide.
