Hello! Hola! Annyeong! (I speak English, Spanish, and Korean.) My name is Brooke and I strive to be a role model for my students not only in terms of academics, but in all areas of life! I enjoy reading and learning, and find it rewarding to see the excitement of developing new knowledge and skills with students of all ages, from all backgrounds. I am open to feedback and will strive to make progress with your student based on their individualized needs. I have 7+ years of experience as a tutor/instructor and will patiently work with your family to achieve your goals! With this experience comes knowledge of how to address problems from multiple angles and practice with using different strategies to adapt to each student's specific learning style.

As an accepted medical student, I understand the discipline and organization required to study difficult material effectively, as well as the flexibility needed to approach concepts in a variety of ways. I self-studied for the MCAT and SAT and scored in the top 10% and top 1%, respectively. My previous students have had great success with standardized tests (one student of mine even scored a rare perfect 36 on the ACT!) and developing better confidence in a variety of subjects. I can tutor a wide variety of topics, including Math, English/Essay help, Physics, Psychology, Chemistry, SAT (ALL Subjects), ACT (ALL Subjects), and much more!

During each session, I regularly check my student's understanding of the material before moving on to the next topic. I provide progress reports and summaries of each session, and I always appreciate receiving feedback of any kind to make sure I am meeting your family's needs. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, so please feel free to reach out! I look forward to hearing from you! :)

Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

I have worked with many different elementary schoolers on improving their understanding of math. Usually they just need someone patient to explain concepts using fun examples! I like to personalize my sessions so that every student I work with will enjoy their time with me, even if math is not their favorite subject!
Reading,

Reading

Reading is something I have loved since I was 5 years old, and my reading comprehension has only grown since then. This has led me to score well on every major Reading-based standardized test, including a perfect 800 on the Reading section of the SAT and 128 out of 132 (top 10%) on the Medical College Admission Test!
Study Skills,

As an accepted medical student intent on becoming a family physician, I have learned to develop strong study habits and excellent time-management skills. I self-studied for the required standardized tests and scored well (SAT 2310 - top 1%, MCAT 513 - top 10%). I am happy to work with students of all ages to build better study habits as well as confidence and self-esteem!

English

ACT English,

ACT English

English is one of my favorite subjects, and while I elected to take the SAT when I was in high school, I received a perfect score of 800 in the reading section, which is very similar to the ACT English section. I am familiar with both the ACT and SAT and am confident I can help your student improve their score with diligence and patience!
ACT Reading,

ACT Reading

On the SAT Reading section, which is very similar to the ACT Reading section, I scored a perfect 800. I consistently test strongly in reading comprehension and analysis, including a 5 on the AP Literature exam, and a 128 out of 132 on the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Section of the Medical College Admission Test. I can help break down this section of the test into manageable lessons and teach you how to analyze a text deeply!

English, Reading, Writing, Literature -- all of these subjects are my strong suit and personal passion! (Growing up I wanted to be a Literature/English Professor.) I scored a perfect 800 on the Reading section of the SAT and 128 out 132 on the Critical Analysis and Reasoning section of the Medical College Admission Test (Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning). I have worked with students at all levels -- pre-K through college -- to help them improve their English language skills, their persuasive essays, and more!

Another recent student improved his Math section score by 140 points in just one session!! I scored a 750 in the writing section of the SAT, and received a 5 on the AP Literature exam. I enjoy writing essays, but I understand that it isn’t always easy. For that reason, I think it is important to help students break down the essay into manageable parts and learn some key tricks to deciphering an author’s meaning, tone, and intention. I can also help you recognize different types of writing section questions to start completing whole pages of the SAT writing section in much less time!

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have taken all levels of math up to multi-variable calculus (which includes 3D graphing), but I must say that Algebra is my favorite. I have worked with many students on this subject, and have found with some time and a little patience, many of them are able to understand the concepts much better than they thought was possible. I love helping students discover that school subjects, even ones that they hated, like math, can be manageable and even fun!
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have tutored Algebra II with many different students and have developed different methods to approach the main concepts students struggle with, which typically involve graphing and/or factoring. I know this topic like the back of my hand and can lead you through it with patience and understanding!

I completed the General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry series at the University of Washington. I made Dean's List 11 quarters during my 4 years and graduated with Interdisciplinary and Departmental Honors!

Brooke was able to break down topics/ questions so my daughter was better able to understand the content. She seems very interested in helping students achieve their best!

Great General Chemistry tutor

Brooke is amazingly patient and explains things so you can understand what is happening conceptually. Once I started tutoring sessions, my stress was relieved knowing I had someone to help me. She’s awesome!
