About Gina

I recently moved to Spokane from Oregon where I had a Lego business for a time. Yes, Lego is cool!
I enjoy exploring and Spokane is a very interesting place! I love animals and have a very old, very shy cat. I love learning new things (right now I'm working on my Spanish). I write, sing, paint, and sometimes make jewelry. I love music and movies. I've been to Comic-con and find the whole cosplay thing very interesting. I like Steampunk myself and, of course, Halloween. I have an affinity for regency fiction (think Jane Austen) and love popular music (Sia, Adele, Pitbull come to mind).

I've tutored fellow students in subjects including computers, algebra, anthropology, English, and geography. I tutored third-grade English as a Second Language (ESL) students at Atkinson Elementary School, as part of post baccalaureate linguistics studies at Portland State University. Most of my students were from China or southeast Asia and spoke languages that I did not. I was able to develop a bond with these children and developed "The Red Envelope Project" as part of their Lunar New Year Celebration.

I have a BA in Geography from San Diego State University. I thoroughly enjoyed my coursework and believe I bring that sense of enjoyment to others.

My undergraduate work included three anthropology courses. Of the two required courses, physical and cultural, I elected to take the latter as an honors course. The final course was an upper-division elective entitled "Roots of Civilization". I "aced" all of them and so can you.

As an undergraduate, I regularly submitted well-researched and well-written papers. I believe it is important to write well whatever the grade level and that anyone can learn this essential skill.
My personal relationship with the written word includes reading, creative writing, journal entries, and a love of children's literature.

I'm actively seeking online learners and would love to hear from you! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. I look forward to meeting with you.
