My love of tutoring stems from enjoying watching others find their own passion and desire to learn. One of the greatest gifts which my late mentor did for me was help me to discover what I truly wanted out of life and learn the tools to achieve my goals. I recently earned my Masters degree in clinical neuroscience from a joint program between Stanford University and Palo Alto University. Currently, I work as a full time clinician within a hospital based research center. I am in the process of completing my Doctorate in Behavioral Health at Arizona State University.
I am a published academic writer and continuously work to remain relevant within the academic world by always challenging myself and seeking out new learning opportunities. I have 7 years of tutoring experience, working through the Writers' Center at Eastern Washington University and also disability services at Palo Alto University. With a Masters degree (MS) in clinical neuroscience, I am an expert in clinical psychology as well as neuroscience and biology. I have 2 Bachelor's degrees, one of which is in sociology and communications and the other in psychology and business administration. As mentioned earlier, shortly I will complete my Doctorate in Behavioral Health!
Earning 2 Bachelor's degrees and my Masters has required quite a bit of English and writing skill. - Not to mention the dissertation which I am currently writing! I have published a significant amount of scientific research, and also have extensive experience with a variety of other professional writing projects. In tutoring within university systems, I came to enjoy assisting students with personal statements as they apply to college or graduate school admission and working with them on resumes and CVs.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a practicing behavioral health clinician, I have several patients who either I have diagnosed with ADHD or I am working in conjunction with a physician who has made the diagnosis. I am skilled at working alongside the person with ADHD to assist them in study skills and teaching them effective ways to accomplish their goals despite and in conjunction with their ADHD. In addition, as an experienced tutor, I often work with students of all ages who suffer from difficulty in retaining information, and my approach in helping them to succeed is similar to someone who has been formally diagnosed with ADHD.
I am a practicing behavioral health clinician who regularly counsels teens who are making decisions about their career choices, including entering college. In addition, I work directly with current college students who are struggling with difficulties while trying to maintain their studies. As a clinician, I regularly guide young adults with several issues which involve college choices - including considering geographical area, financial concerns while in college or prior to starting college, family pressure around making specific career choices, and managing learning disabilities while in college level courses. Of course, high school age students who are exploring their college options and are writing personal statements are also a specialty of my practice.
I am a practicing clinician in behavioral health and actively work within an interdisciplinary setting which requires solid communication skills. As a professional, I write formally and informally on a daily basis - all requiring correct grammar, formatting ability, and correct sentence structure. The foundations of English are at the core of my daily career responsibilities.
I am a published author in social science research and provide professional editing services to authors at all levels. My grammar and sentence structure skills are exceptional, and I enjoy assisting others to learn how to use writing as a solid way to communicate both formally and informally.
I have studied nutrition primarily from a sports psychology perspective. When I work with athletes clinically, we often address their nutritional goals for performance. I have a BS in biology which allowed me to take 3 advanced nutrition courses as electives. These courses educated me in micro and macro nutrients as well as the biological process of digestion and how the body maintains blood sugar and utilizes energy. I am familiar with calculating TDEE - or someone's Total Daily Energy Expenditure - which is different for everyone. TDEE is essential when establishing calorie or macronutrient intake goals.
I am a published author and professional editor. In addition, I engage in public speaking often which provides me with exceptional communication skills in general. Having an "ear" for good writing is what quality proofreading and editing is all about!
I am a licensed clinician in Behavioral Health. Regularly, I provide clinical therapy within a group setting and to individuals. My masters degree (MS) is in clinical neuroscience, allowing me to contribute to academic and medical research within psychology and endocrine sciences. In addition to being employed full-time as a clinician, I am a published author within psychological research and am currently completing my PhD
I am a published author in social science research and a practicing behavioral health clinician. In utilizing both of these skills, I am able to meet students of all ages where they are at in terms of learning to read and am able to facilitate better vocabulary and writing skills as their reading improves.
I completed an interdisciplinary BA from Eastern Washington University in 1999 with Sociology being one of my majors. In addition, I am second author on a scientific publication regarding the application of sociological concepts within psychotherapy - this paper was published in a journal which focuses on sociology rather than a clinical journal. Finally, I have experience with tutoring students in both undergraduate and graduate level sociology.
I am a published author in social science research and writing instructor, including Vocabulary. I also am a practicing behavioral health clinician, so my writing ability is "grounded" in real life. When I write for my own work or teach writing, it comes from a down-to-earth place and students of all ages seem to enjoy the practical edge to my methods. I realize that not everyone wants to write professionally, and that most have goals of quality writing to allow them into college or graduate school programs of their choice. I love this because again, it allows me to teach from a practical standpoint to meet the student where they are at.
I am a practicing behavioral health clinician and also an active researcher within social sciences and interdisciplinary medicine. I have been published several times and am currently completing a chapter for a book written in conjunction with Philosophers and Neuroscientists. I actively teach and mentor others at all skill levels who wish to improve their writing skills.
