About Edbera

Hello,
My name is Edbera W. As a director of preschools, I have educated children from preschool to twelve years of age for over seventeen years.

My education is in Early Childhood Education which is birth through third grade. I am currently waiting for my edTPA processing for my teaching certification in Washington state. I have completed my education degree at Western Governor University. For six years, I owned an early childhood training company in Texas, where I presented workshops for early childhood teachers in math, science, literacy, and diversity. I also have volunteered with Girls Scouts, Camp Fire, and CASA. I enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds. I am currently a director for a before and after school youth program.

Most importantly, your education should be motivating, inspirational and reciprocal for you and me. Education is to enhance your life while developing your fluency in thinking and your desire to be a lifelong seeker of knowledge, who is responsible, resilient, and interacting in the world. Your tutoring will be individually and uniquely designed to meet your educational goals and learning style. My role is to challenge you with engaging activities to guide you in developing your full potential. I will work with you to find the key to change your challenge into an opportunity.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have 17 years experience in early childhood education with the preschool program La Petite. I have trained adults in early childhood subjects to meet their CEU requirements. I have a AA in child development. I am currently completing my BA in early childhood education at Washington Governors University. I have completed Peer Mentor Training and CASA Training.

IELTS

As a director in Texas, I assisted the parents who English was their second language obtain their GED. The parents were also required to pass the IELTS, TOEFL or TOEIC as part of their employment or college entrance assessments, which I assisted with their preparation to take the exam. I worked with various groups of adults and children on the development of grammar, pronunciation, intonation, comprehension and vocabulary.

Special Needs

As a director, fifty percent of my school-age classroom consisted of special needs students because of the location of the charter school that specialized in special needs. I have participated in numerous workshops for special needs to assist with the students through the public school and college. I have worked with Fragile X, Autism, ADD, development delays, fetal alcohol and drug syndrome, and emotional disorders due to abuse. During my role as a CASA and a domestic violence children's director, I mentor with children and families with a variety of special needs.

Study Skills

As a student, I have completed classes on study skills, note taking, and reading for comprehension. As a trainer, I have taught early childhood teachers study skills to enable them to pass their CDA written and verbal test. As a mentor/tutor, I have taught skills for study such as: mind mapping, sticky notes, note taking for answers to study questions, diagramming and a variety of graphic organizers. Also setting up a environment for study and research is a area, I have also developed with my student so they will have everything they need in one place to more effectively use their study time.
