Hello! My name is Rita, and I am an English teacher, with licenses in Massachusetts, Oregon, and now Washington. I have also taught in Arizona on the Navajo Reservation, and in Richey, Montana.

I have always been interested in every aspect of English Language Arts. The importance of being proficient in reading and writing cannot be over-emphasized: it affects all aspects of our lives, from being able to benefit from thinking both in contemporary and historical terms, to learning how to communicate, to scoring well on standardized testing. In short, it enriches our ability to enjoy our lives.

I believe working with students either one-to-one or in small groups is the most effective way to achieve the goals of building confidence, competency, and skill. I would love to share my passion with English, and thereby introduce you to the enjoyment of learning English Language Arts.

The importance of being a proficient reader cannot be emphasized too strongly. I have a lifetime's worth of the benefits of being one, and my goal is to impart this discovery to your child. Every developing reader is at a different stage, and I will craft my lessons and exercises to precisely your child's level. This, I find, is the best way to create enthusiasm while simultaneously bolstering confidence.
