As a Mom, I have worked with children K1-12 to understand and enjoy math. I have a degree in civil engineering; my bread and butter is based on my math skills. I have enjoyed volunteering at an Elementary School, a Middle School and a local High School for the past 11 years. Kids say I make math fun! I enjoy seeing the light bulb turn on when a child "gets it"!

Math is easy when students know when and how to apply a few basic math tools. For instance, I coined a few algebraic techniques with names like "The Power of One" and "Double Do It". These catchy phrases help students understand the process they use to solve problems and then recognize the similarity of these processes as their math studies become more complex.

I have been offering math tutoring since 2009. I have worked with students of varied needs and ages. Parents say I am a patient soul. I just want to help students feel confident in their math skills. References available upon request.

I usually offer hour-long math tutoring sessions at a nearby library. I am available Monday to Friday, for $35 per hour session. I can provide a worksheet to emulate the upcoming school curriculum or we can review the material your student is having problems with. I am willing to meet other places too, but may have to charge a bit more to cover travel time and expenses.

As a professional land surveyor working in the civil engineering discipline, math is my friend. My work proves math is relevant and I enjoy teaching my students with real life math applications. I began my engineering career in 1982. I am currently the Director of Surveys at Belsby Engineering, located in Spokane, Washington. Both of my children, now 16 and 20, are accomplished in their math studies. I stayed connected to their studies by volunteering to tutor math at their schools. In 2006, I began offering individual tutoring for algebra 1 and 2 and geometry to K-12 and college students. If you are interested in student references, please let me know.

As a professional land surveyor, I use geometry every day to determine the accurate location of land features and to depict their locations through mapping. I know how to make this subject come alive for students with real examples of how geometric postulates and theorems apply in engineering work.

Great First tutoring session

This was my son's first meeting with Sara. She did a great job of helping him understand his Geometry and spent extra time making sure that he knew how to do his problems. She was able to keep him on task, which as his mother, I have a hard time doing at times!!!
