I have been a teacher for over twenty years (grades K-8) and love helping students achieve their potential. I specialize in students with ADHD, dyslexia, giftedness, and those who just need a little extra support to achieve. My teaching methods are scientific, research-based methods that optimize learning. Building relationships is also an important part of my teaching philosophy. Students learn better when they feel valued and understand how the content applies to their lives. I have taught all subjects in elementary school classes and was an intervention specialist in Arizona before moving to Washington.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA (Elementary Education and Art) from Westminster College and earned a 4.0 average in my graduate work at the American College of Education (M.Ed in Integrated Curriculum with a focus on Special Education). I specialize in reading and English as a Second Language but enjoy helping students in all subjects.

Caring and Patient

Katrina took the time to really understand my son and modify her tutoring method to him. He was more engaged in reading than I have seen. She gave my husband and I great recommendations to help his reading comprehension and focus and helped assure us that there is positive here and a way to move forward after over a year of trying to improve in this area.
