Educational Psychology (Master's)
My name is Tatyana. I came to America 15 years ago and, since then, have lived and worked in Silverdale, WA. As a substitute teacher K-12 and a college instructor of psychology, I have felt great satisfaction in helping students grow. As a Russian language interpreter and a Russian teacher, I have worked with children and adults in various settings. I taught Russian language at Central Texas College, Fort Lewis, WA and Central Kitsap Community School program for several years. I have helped my students not only master their Russian language skills, but also to achieve their goals. For example, my student Kelly F. was able to adopt a child from Vladivostok after taking couple of classes.
I believe my experience, compassion, and desire to teach will inspire you to learn the Russian language. Hello!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified teacher in WA and have worked as a substitute teacher K-12 at Central Kitsap School District, WA for three years.
In my classes I used a combination of many approaches because students have a variety of learning styles. Demonstration is the most common method, because elementary students need supported practice. Collaboration or a group discussion inspires students to solve problems easier and helps to improve communication skills.
I am a certified teacher K-12 in WA and have worked in preschools.
The Phonics method involves the relation between the speech sound and its written form. It is important to listen to the sounds and to see the corresponding letters. There are five stages in learning: introduction of the letters, blending the sounds, awareness of irregular words (recognize and read 50 most frequently used irregular words), alternate letters, and learning sounds through listening and seeing the corresponding letters.
I use many games, such as phonics bingo, criss-cross phonics, missing sound, sound distinction, and beginning/middle/ end.
I am a native Russian speaker. I have taught conversational Russian at Central and North Kitsap Community Schools for three years and Russian Language courses at Central Texas College, Fort Lewis, WA for two years.
My courses are based on communicative approaches and combine learning common expressions and systematic work on grammar. One of my principles consists in giving students the linguistic means to express themselves in everyday situations by training of communicative skills and models.
