Hello :) My name is Emily and I am a current third year studying Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Washington as well as a research assistant at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
I’ve been tutoring students since my freshman year of high school and have worked with Kumon, the Boys and Girls Club, my school district, and GoPeer. I focused more on teaching elementary school students during my four years of high school but have branched out to more age groups. I am available to work with middle and high school students as well. I love building a connection with my students and helping them feel that they are capable of strengthening their skills to strive academically. I also don’t want to be an unapproachable person for my students so I structure my sessions to be focused, but casual.
I’ve taught algebra and geometry to various students for the past few years and have been successful in clarifying their misunderstandings and making sure they can maximize the amount of points they earn in their exams.
I’m a molecular biology student and have earned an average grade of 3.7 in my university’s ultra-competitive introductory biology courses. I also have experience taking AP Biology.
I’m fluent in Japanese and have passed the N1 level for the JLPT test a few years ago. I’ve also taken the AP Japanese exam in high school.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in receiving tutoring services from me! I look forward to getting to know you all :)
