Hello! I am Dr. Avneet K., M.D., MPH, an international medical graduate currently studying for my USMLE Step 2 CK. I completed my MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from University of California, School of Public Health, Berkeley with a high GPA (3.94).

During my university years, I came across amazing and unforgettable teachers that not only helped me become proficient in the subjects but also helped me grow as an individual. This has been my primary motivation to help out students that are in need and where I can contribute and give back to help them learn and grow.

My experience involves teaching and assisting graduate students in the university as a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) via online, in-person sessions, and group assignments. During those sessions, I have got great feedback from my students, e.g. ‘the instructor helped me to realize and improve the areas that I always struggled with’, ‘the instructor explained critical concepts in detail and in a way to get a good grip of the topic’. I also volunteered at the university’s free tutoring sessions at the library to help students with their assignments and test material. Through all these experiences I have gained a range of experience in teaching a variety of students with different needs.

I love teaching students to help them achieve their goals and show that everyone can do well on whichever test they may be attempting to ace! My goal as a tutor is to create a welcoming but accountable environment for my students. I believe in a 2-way tutoring session. I appreciate being asked questions about what I teach. This way it keeps the communication open, makes me keep a tab on what students have understood, and helps me improve and learn as well.

I completed my MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from University of California, School of Public Health, Berkeley. I also worked as a Public Health Researcher and medical student for almost a year at Kaiser Permanente Family Medicine Residency Program, Vallejo where I was planning, conducting, a

Pharmacology

Pharmacology

I am an International Medical Graduate with an MPH degree in Epidemiology. I have scored 235 on the USMLE Step 1 test with a higher performance rating in cardiology, renal, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, and biostatistics, and PH. I am currently preparing for the USMLE Step 2CK. Preparing and attempting the USMLE Step 1 test myself, has given me an in-depth understanding of "how" one should be preparing for the test and not just how much. This test expects you to have an extensive and comprehensive understanding of concepts frequently quizzed on the actual test day which I try to make as effortless as possible for my students. I use the First Aid book as my primary source of teaching. I also intend to ask questions during the tutoring sessions and relate to topics studied previously/sound familiar so as to have a quick recall memory on differentials. Rather than simply explaining the medical content to the students, my goal is to empower them to build upon their existing knowledge, connect things from different systems, and subjects. I would want my students to be confident when they attempt to distinguish between similar-sounding or similar-looking diseases that are commonly tested on the exam. My strong areas are biostatistics, ethics, public health, genetics, pharmacology, microbiology, cardiology, renal, hematology, general pathology, reproduction, and endocrine. I look forward to working with some fantastic students and help them ace this beast!

Great at breaking down tough info

Avneet is great! She taught me Epidemiology at the med school level and was very patient with me. Avneet not only made sure I actually understood the concepts before moving on, but she also broke down the intimidating/overwhelming into smaller bits so I could really learn! Highly recommend.

Knowledgable, patient, and overall the best!

I had trouble understanding material for a biostatistics and qualitative research course, but Avneet was able to easily break down the material for me! The examples she provided enhanced my understanding of the material. Not only that, but she able to respond to my queries right away, and helped me tremendously on an upcoming presentation I had coming up! I couldn't have asked for a better tutor! I will for sure keep coming back to her.

EXCELLENT

Ms.Kaur broke the material down wonderfully, she helped me make connections that I needed to know for my exam. I feel more confident about the lesson and I now know what I’m studying. I have a better understanding of the material. I will definitely be using her again and I’ve already recommended her to a classmate of mine.

Knowledgeable, organized, very resourceful, and patient!

Avneet helps me with my pharmacology course in a very rigorous NP program. She is absolutely amazing teacher! She explains every concept in a very easy to understand way. She cares about my success in pharmacology and goes above and beyond the material that I have to understand in a very short time. She makes sessions very productive and on point. Also makes sure that I understant every single part of the concept before moving on. I am very lucky that I found her and would recommend her as the best tutor that I ever had.

Friendly and knowledgeable

Anveet took her time to thoroughly explain the answers for my epidemiology questions to me instead of giving me the answer. She asked questions and put together diagrams to better assist and help me visualize what I was actually going over. Her ways of teaching are efficient and I will definitely be contacting her again if I need any help.
