In college, I was a TA for a variety of computer science and math courses. This involved running a discussion session where I answered the group’s questions and reviewed concepts, as well as one-on-one work in office hours.
In teaching math, it’s important to both explain the abstract concept before the specific application, and to be able to change how you approach the concept quickly if it doesn’t make sense to the student. Different people will understand the concepts differently, which makes sense—there are no “math people”, but we do all process the world and information in our own manner. I tutor in specific math and computer science subjects that I have a deep level of knowledge. This allows me to change strategy quickly if a particular explanation doesn’t work for a student. I have previously tutored or TAed in Algebra, Calculus, Introductory CS, and Algorithms.
Above all, my students come first. I welcome any materials or suggestions parents or students may provide. I’m easy to reach and will respond quickly. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
