I've been a mathematician for several years now and I've worked as a tutor both privately and at South Seattle College where I tutored algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, and differential equations. I'm currently studying mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Washington as an undergrad student pursuing a Master's degree. I tutor many math courses, up to the 300-level. I really enjoy tutoring because I used to struggle with mathematics myself when I was younger. My way of thinking about math is very intuitive and visual, and I found that it helped me immensely to create visual mental models while learning math, then using analysis, proofs, and examples to support these models of thought.
What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students achieve their own breakthroughs in understanding a topic they may struggle with in their education. I've worked with high school students, college students, and adult students returning to finish their education as well. I've helped students gain an intuition about a variety of mathematical topics, reinforce their own intuitions about math, and prepare for exams. I've tutored groups of students and assisted them on research papers as well as worked on students on an individual basis to focus on their personal educational needs. I believe that my emphasis on the visual and intuitive in my own personal learning journey can help other students too.
I encourage any students or parents to reach out to me if they have any questions or want to schedule a lesson!
