I have been in situations in foreign countries not knowing the language so understand the challenges that presents! I also love, love, love the art of communication in it's many forms. I have been involved in the theatre arts for most of my life as well. I find a background in the performing arts to be very useful in teaching English as a second language. I believe learning should be fun!
I gear my lessons towards the specific needs, interests, and challenges of each individual student. We all have a preferred way of learning, with unique strengths and weaknesses. Let's enhance your strengths, and bring up your weaknesses. I am patient and adaptable. We could meet at a coffee shop, I could come to you, or I have a home office. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am ESL certified through Oxford Seminars. I have always been particularly fond of words and love teaching. My first job when I was only 14 was to teach tap dancing to children younger than myself, so I have been teaching various modalities for a long time. I am 55 now.
I have been volunteering quite some time now at REWA, Women's Refugee Center.
