About Brian

I've taught various classes at work, and I taught high performance driving at local race tracks. I enjoy teaching. I've mentored many people to round out the capabilities. I've been a manager, which involved teaching and guiding in their professional growth.

Many years in electronic product design and development. It's been years since I personally designed circuits, but I am proficient with the basics.

Deep experience using Microsoft Office products, including advanced features like macros, VB scripts and automation.

I mastered subjects in college. I also offer expertise gained from the working world. I can help you with your academic endeavors and help you prepare for applying that knowledge to your after school career.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Electrical Engineering

My electrical degree allowed me to work as an EE and SE for many years, and later, to manage engineers on our electrical development projects.
As a result, I haven't personally designed circuitry in recent years, but nevertheless was deeply involved with schematic reviews, circuitry changes/enhancements, and personally troubleshooting using analyzers and oscilloscopes. I can tutor basic and intermediate level material.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I've used PowerPoint since it was first released. I've developed my own slide decks for many presentations to audiences of 100+. The slide decks were often sophisticated with graphics, overlays and animations to convey information to the audience. Subject matter was often technical and detailed, and the complete file size often exceeded 100MB.

Microsoft Project

I've used Microsoft Project and other project scheduling and management tool for many, many years. And I managed Program Managers, which involved in depth reviews of their MS Project files.
Our Gantt charts ranged from 20 to 500 lines (though longer is not necessarily better, and can cause problems!)
For me, MS Project is invaluable for planning the project, the resources needed, the critical path, and then, tracking progress.
MS Project is also valuable in ensuring the team knows the goals, the activities that are required to reach the goal, and to see their role and responsibilities.
