About Dominic

My name is Dominic A., and I'm a Seattle-based fashion photographer and educator. I've been shooting in some form or another for the past fifteen years, beginning with film at the ripe age of 12, and I haven't stopped. I've been slowly starting with a few free tutoring sessions here and there, but I'm ready to show you have to take better photos!

With Developing Education, I have decided to give back, and share my knowledge and experience, to help the next generation of photographers develop their skills, and create images they will be proud of. My teaching style is very casual, and you set the pace and what you're interested in learning.

Drawing from my experience with photography and my own thirst for knowledge of even the most esoteric topics, I'm able to offer a unique learning experience, not quite a lecture, not quite a discussion. Each one on one session is planned in advance based on the topics you’re interested in learning, from bare bones basics, to the technical complexities of your camera.

If you're looking to learn the basics, needing advice for what kind of camera to buy, or even if you want to learn more about studio lighting, send me a message and we'll plan a session catered for your interests!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Photography

At the ripe age of 12 I took a summer long day camp photography program and learned how to use a 35mm film camera, with emphasis on ISO, shutter speed, aperture. I continued to use that camera throughout high school, and finally graduated to a DSLR at the end of high school, and recently completed the UW Photography Certificate Program in 2014.

I have only started tutoring this year, offering several free sessions with students, working with people from all over Seattle. I've worked with several instructors helping with workshops and learned more about teaching.

We went over Lightroom importing, how to reset quick develop tools, specifically changing the default color treatment from black and white back to color. We also went over resizing and saving photos in Photoshop
