I am a published reporter, writer, and book editor and I have been working for 26 years. I taught college-level English, essay writing, and Mass Media for one and a half years. I received four journalism awards for my work in health care research writing and an honorable mention from the Washington Newspapers Publishers Association.
I graduated with honors from my undergraduate program in Communications from the University of Portland with a GPA of 3.75 and held the position of features editor at the school newspaper, The Beacon. I also served as an on-air news anchor for KDUP, the school's radio station.
I earned my master's degree in Journalism at the University of Memphis, where my calculated GPA was 3.85.
I am also a beginning and intermediate level Hebrew language teacher and tutor, For over 18 years in after-school programs throughout the city, I worked in grades 2 through 12 and with adults in classrooms of religion programs in eight synagogues.
I have a great deal of experience working with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who are 12 13, 14, and 15 years-old in an ongoing, often year-long tutoring relationship typically meeting at the family's dining room table.
My approach is totally comprehensive and includes youth and adult tutoring for B'nei Mitzvah preparation with the chanting of the Torah portion and all Hebrew prayers. I strive to give overall instruction of the ceremony and the process so that you will be completely comfortable.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In addition to a bachelor's degree in Communication with honors and a master's degree in Journalism, I have been a professional reporter for 27 years. I also taught English 101 and 102 for a year and a half at a college in Bellevue. Currently, I am also a book editor for several authors and I continue to edit various materials for clients.
I attended the Jewish Educational Center Yeshiva learning Hebrew and Judaic Studies subjects.
I have been teaching Hebrew in private schools, and the University of Washington, while tutoring Hebrew in the Greater Seattle Area for 18 years.
I've received a certificate in Jewish Teaching in 2007 and I have attended several yearly conferences for training and teaching methods.
I've also been coaching Bar and Bat Mitzvah students, both youth and adult, as well as Modern Hebrew learners for 18 years.
