About Rachel

I am a soon to-be graduate of Seattle University, majoring in English with an emphasis on Creative Writing. Currently, I work as a Writing Consultant at the Seattle University Writing Center, where I help students with any and all writing assignments, at any stage in the writing process. This means that I am trained to help my peers work through problems that range anywhere from brainstorming ideas to final edits. I also have a year of experience tutoring math at Bailey Gatzert Elementary for a wonderful fourth-grade class, although my talents can be found in writing! I find tutoring so rewarding because I believe that everyone has good ideas, and it is an amazing feeling to help someone get those ideas down on paper.

I have always been passionate about my health and fitness, and I've tried just about every sport you can name! Several years ago I found that I have a love for rowing, and I have been a proud member of the DI Seattle University Rowing Team in my time at Seattle U. In my free time, I also love running, riding my bike, and going on hikes. I am currently a coach at Green Lake Rowing Center, where I help train people of all ages and experience levels into tip-top shape!

I am passionate about helping people learn and express their ideas. In my experience as a tutor, I have learned so much alongside the kids and students I work with, and I hope I can be helpful to you as well!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
