About Sara

I am a high school graduate from Temecula Preparatory School with Honors. I am attending Seattle Pacific University to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and I hope to one day help children that have experienced drama, as well as help drug abusers. I am looking to tutor not only to raise money to buy books each quarter for college, but also to help high school students and GED students with getting their high school diplomas, which I believe is a very important asset in life.

I have been tutoring kids since I was in the 6th grade, so I have 8 years of experience. I have tutored students in varying subjects, ranging from History to English, and I have also tutored ACT and SAT prep, along with many math courses. I have tutored at the K-12 school I attended for 12 years, and I have tutored family friends, church friends, and also neighbors and the people that my neighbors told about me. I have only received positive feedback from them.

Since I have been tutoring for many years, I have developed strategies for certain age groups depending on their level of understanding, paired with their eagerness to learn. I have been told that I am skilled at explaining and working out topics with high school students in a way that is different from their teacher's way of relaying the information. I do not have documented credentials since I am still in college, but I do have to say that a student's perspective when teaching is sometimes easier to understand, compared to that of an older, experienced individual. Since I am still in school, I can relate on that level, and also, my rates are not as high as those who have documented credentials, but my abilities are just as strong.

I received a score of 29 (out of 32) on my ACT Math section, and I received a 640 (out of 800) on my SAT Math section. I also took up to AP Calculus in high school, and I feel more than capable to tutor in algebra.

I took both Chemistry and AP Chemistry in high school, and I have taken two college-level chemistry classes in college. I have done well in all of those classes.

Please contact me if you are looking for a tutor. My rates are not as high as other people, and I only have good intentions. I am willing to meet at a library, or at a Starbucks when I begin local tutoring.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I received a very high score on my ACT Math section, a 29 out of 32. The United States average on this section is a 20.9, and I most definitely got higher. I am very confident in my ability to tutor for this subject.

Algebra 1

I took Algebra 1 in 8th grade, and have implemented it in every math class I took after. I have also tutored individual students at my high school with Algebra 1, and some of those students were in grades higher than me. Math is one of my strongest subjects, and therefore I am very qualified to tutor for it.

Elementary Math

I have been tutoring students in elementary math for years through the school I attended throughout kindergarten through my senior year of high school. I believe that my level of expertise will be a great asset for you!

Proofreading

I have been proofreading since I was in the 6th grade, and I have never received a grade on an essay lower than an A. I am very good at recognizing mistakes in writing.
