Carleton College (Biology)
I am passionate about working one-on-one with middle and high school students to boost confidence in math and science and organization in school. I seek to work with your student at his/her own pace to make sure we are firm in our understanding of the basics before moving on to the more complicated topics. I have over 6 years of experience working with students 11-18 from tutoring to classroom teaching to leading wilderness trips and coaching. I have tutored students in algebra, chemistry, biology, study skills, physical science, geometry, pre-calc and more in Boulder and SF Bay area. I taught high school ecology and earth science for a year too.
I specialize in one-on-one tutoring working with an array of learning styles and especially enjoy working with students with learning differences and IEPs. My goal is to build confidence in my students and help them realize their potential. I believe no one is bad at science or math, but it takes more time for some to learn this core skills and concepts or many students need to hear the material in a different way to grasp the concept.
I currently work for Woza Soccer, a non-profit that runs service trips for high school students abroad using soccer as a vehicle to cross culturally connect with communities in South Africa, Peru and Costa Rica. I am passionate about working with young people and I would love to share my passion of science and math with your student.
I am excited to meet your family and help a struggling student realize their capability.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
